Earlier in the year I decided it was time to give our home an update! It’s been quite a few years since we’ve revamped any of the furnishings or fixtures and not only has my style changed, but so has our needs! Now that the boys are a little older I think it’s safe to start restyling our home to give it a fresh and fabulous feel! If you missed my blog on what I had in mind you can find it HERE.
But first… let me show you the BEFORE photo!

Dark, boring, and a room I didn’t enjoy spending time in! Which really is an issue when it’s the center of your home! Before I show you our AFTER photo, I need to let you know that we actually didn’t do that much! It’s amazing how a few of the right changes can make such a hige difference!

Are you ready…..

Ta-da! Obviously the BIGGEST change is our window furnishings, and they have made a MASSIVE difference! We took out the faux wood venetian blinds that had come with the house (we had never got around to replacing them as they were a large and custom size) and replacing them with a blockout roller blind and sheer floor to ceiling curtain from Veneta Blinds. We also moved the brown couch out, replaced the cushion covers and bought a floor lamp. That’s it!

Ordering with Veneta Blinds was so easy! We measured the space, I wanted a blockout roller blind for privacy at night and obviously light control and sheer curtains for privacy during the day while letting as much natural light in as possible. I loved the look of floor to ceiling and wall to wall sheer curtains, it really opens up the space and creates a light and airy feel. So we did the measurements and hopped online to Veneta Blinds to pop in our order. The online ordering was really straight forward and easy, and I loved that you can purchase measure insurance for peace of mind! A few days later we received free samples in the mail of our choices (Blockout in Cloud and Sheer curtains in Pinch Pleat Sheer Dover Off White) the team also add alternative samples in case the colour or fabric wasn’t exactly what you had in mind. We were really happy with our choices and the team called to double check our measurements and fixture details then our order was off to the factory to be made!

When our order arrived installation was really easy, Pete had our old blinds out and the new blind and curtains installed in one afternoon! The difference it made to the lounge room is incredible, Bebe said it felt like we had won the lottery and had a new house ha ha! If you’re looking to refresh your window coverings we can’t recommend Veneta Blinds enough! The team has kindly given me a code for you – RACHAELGOUGH will give you 15% OFF your order PLUS Free Shipping PLUS Free Measure Insurance!

I replaced our old cushion covers with Ikea Sanela Cushion Covers in Golden Brown & Light Brown-Red and at only $6.99 each they’re an absolute steal! If you need cushion inserts as well these ones are great.

Our new lamp is another bargain, this time from Kmart. The Linen Look Tripod Lamp was only $49! Originally I wanted something with a white base, but I’m happy with the black… perhaps I’ll try a DIY and spray paint it?
Our ottoman is from Brosa Design and is called the Alexa Large Round Ottoman in French Beige Linen. We’ve had it about a year and the boys love it!
Our gorgeous rug is from Cheapest Rugs Online and is the Centaur in Silver 400x300cm, we were so lucky to win it in a giveaway this year and love it! I chose the salmon and mustard tones from the colours in the rug.

I picked up this gorgeous Oasis Tray (and the larger matching Moroc tray) from Pillow Talk during the week, and my Palm Beach Teak & Amber candle matched in perfectly as well! This is our old Ikea side table that we bought as an interim and stayed WAY too long… below is our stunning new Koala Living Balmoral Round Nested Side Tables II that I am OBSESSED with!

I really wanted nesting side tables so that one could be moved to the other side of the couch when needed. Aren’t they perfection! The Koala Living team has kindly given me a code RACHAEL5 that will give you 5% OFF site wide! That adds up to a lot when you’re choosing bigger items too 😉

I would call this stage one of the revamp though as I would like to change the lounge for a corner suite and we really need to do something about our TV cabinet… but for now I am so obsessed with our loungeroom and now LOVE spending time in there!

Are you planning any revamps to your home?
