Hello Lovelies!
As you may know, recently on the school holidays we snuck away for a night to the gorgeous Sofitel Brisbane Central. Since we don’t go away often and were only heading off for one night, I wanted to make sure we stayed somewhere special. I had visited the Sofitel for their amazing High Tea and have always wanted to go back and stay, so it was with much excitement that we headed into town for our staycay.
For me one of the most enjoyable parts of being a parent is experiencing things anew through the eyes of my children. Driving into town, knowing that we were staying away, their eyes were full of wonder and excitement. Bebe chatted excitedly to Bambino the whole time, pointing out cranes on the high rises and the City Cats on the Brisbane River.
From the moment that we arrived to the moment we left, the service was impeccable and by far the best we have ever received from hotel staff. Friendly, helpful and so lovely to my two excited little boys with eyes as big as saucers!
We stayed in adjoining Luxury Rooms, and the boys thought all their Christmas’ had come at once running from room to room exploring! We had requested a portacot for Bambino as he’s still in a cot and I was so touched to see that the Sofitel staff had popped a beautiful teddy bear in his cot for him! ‘Franklin’ now sits pride of his place on his bookcase at home and both boys love him. The Sofitel knows the way to this Mama’s heart as well, and had surprised Pete and I with a bottle of Moët & Chandon!
This is the face of a VERY happy Mama!
Naturally the first thing we did once the boys had finished exploring the rooms, was pop on the complimentary bath robes and take a family photo. Because #memories. And also my baby boys in their hotel robes are so dang cute!
The view from the room overlooked the city, I just love how playing tourist in your own town makes you stop and appreciate how beautiful it is! The boys were transfixed watching the cars zoom around and the sunset.
Isn’t it hilarious how children just make themselves at home no matter where they are! Bebe worked out the TV, settled himself onto “his bed” and found the room service menu and decided what he wanted for dinner! Ha ha! He also found the pen and paper and drew the hotel and all that he could see from the window. He obviously loved it all as he said to us that he never wanted to leave!
What I love about the location of The Sofitel Brisbane Central is that you can either choose to not leave, as they have gorgeous restaurants and bars within the hotel, or you can step outside their doorstep and explore Brisbane on foot with everything so close. If I was staying just with Hubby, I would definitely make use of the Cuvée Lounge Bar and award winning Privé249 dining, staying within the walls of the hotel and soaking up one on one time. But because we don’t often take the boys out at night (I’m a routine Mama) we made the most of the central location and took them for a walk through town and stopped for some dinner on the way home.
We let the boys stay up past their bedtime and soaked up some special cuddle time in the incredibly comfortable beds, watching TV and chatting and playing UNO. I just love how taking yourself out of your own home and routine gives you the opportunity to enjoy life’s simple pleasures again.
The next morning we the boys watched the sunrise from their favourite perch at the window (even with beds as soft as clouds and block out blinds that kept the rooms pitch dark they didn’t sleep in!) then we headed down to Thyme2 Restaurant for the buffet breakfast. Bebe’s eyes almost popped out of his head when we said he could have what ever he wanted for breakfast, and I think he did about 3 laps of the stations before he decided what he wanted. He ended up having three serves of breakfast, while he usually does have a substantial breakfast I also think he was so excited by the variety on offer! Everything you could want was there from your usual fruits, cereals, hot breakfasts to smoothies, a live omelette station, meats and cheeses, pastries, fresh juicer and more!
Check out was easy, smooth and the staff so friendly. Although Bebe was quite sad we were leaving and begged to come back again the next night! We honestly couldn’t have asked for a more amazing staycation, and can’t wait to go back again!
If you are ever looking for a hotel to stay in Brisbane, we can’t recommend Sofitel Brisbane Central enough. Have you ever had the opportunity to stay there?
