If you follow me on Instagram then you know recently I had the pleasure of exploring my own backyard, Brisbane, with 16 other gorgeous women whom I’d met through Instagram.
Gone are the days where you were told not to meet strangers off the Internet!
What started as a suggestion in a chat to meet up, turned into a whirlwind weekend exploring much of what Brisbane has to offer. And although I’m Brisbane born and bred, out of the eight venues from the weekend, I had only ever visited three! So I was as much a tourist as the girls who had flown in from across Australia.
I was so impressed with every single venue, I’ve popped together this blog for you in the hopes that you take the opportunity to explore Brisbane and enjoy some of these venues for yourself, I honestly do live in such a beautiful town!
TRYP by Wyndham
TRYP is a street art hotel located in Fortitude Valley. I have been to the Osbourne Hotel next door a number of times and seen the side of it, but had never been inside. We were very lucky to be given a guided tour through the hotel to see the different levels and to hear the history of the site. The original building was once the clubhouse of the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes, the Brisbane chapter of an international and mysterious secret society. It was abondoned and because the space was protected from the elements, street artists had the time and oppurinity to spend more time on their art in the space. When the site was to become a hotel,, the owners tracked down their favourite artists from the street art found inside and commissioned them to each complete a level of the hotel. Their artwork is found on the walls, wallpaper, prints in each room as well as outside the building. As much original artwork was kept as possible, but photographed if it couldn’t be saved.
The room we stayed in was on level two which was Fintan Magee‘s level, but the other three artists are Beastman, Numskull and Rone. The industrial and quirky foundation of the hotel can be found throughout, even down to the glass basins in the bathroom which have the word TRYP in graffiti style text over and over to create the pattern. The level one rooms each have a courtyard, where even the dividers can be opened so if you’re a big group you can hang out together. Level four has outdoor courtyards, some rooms even have outdoor spas!
I honestly wouldn’t hesitate to stay again, it was such an amazing hotel. Even with thoughtful gifts! We came home after our big day exploring Brisbane to find a little hot chocolate and Noosa Chocolate Factory treat waiting on our beds with a handwritten note. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and we even found out that the management team is mostly female! How amazing is that.
TRYP has kindly given us a special to share with you (and let’s be honest, myself because I will definitely be organising a babysitter and taking hubby back for a staycation):

ELEVEN ROOFTOP BAR
After welcome drinks and nibbles in the courtyard of two of the King with Courtyard Rooms (divider opened) we headed literally across the road to Eleven Rooftop Bar & Restaurant. I hadn’t been before but I will definitely be back. The view was just magical, our beautiful city as far as the eye could see, and as we went early evening we had the pleasure of watching the sunset as well. The staff were amazing, and the food delicious! We had share plates for the table, so we were able to taste a bigger variety of all the fabulous food on offer. If you’re going with a group I highly recommend doing this, as everything we had was divine!
HELLENIKA AT THE CALILE
I’ve actually had a rose at Hellenika at sunset before (highly recommend) but breakfast was a whole new experience. In the warm sunlight the beautiful tones of the poolside and restaurant are just gorgeous, I felt transported to Palm Springs. The menu has a Greek flair and the food was absolutely drool worthy. Fresh and flavoursome, plus Halloumi and olives for breakfast? You’ve won my heart forever. The staff were incredible, full of personality and flair making the experience even more enjoyable.
I have had the pleasure of attending a number of events at Osbourne Hotel, they host month long themed events that are incredible I have been to two rose events, a Riesling and have also been to a function that was held there. Every time the service is amazing, the food fantastic and atmosphere fabulous. I can never fault a thing, and will definitely be back regularly as well as host my own functions there (the next time I have something to celebrate ha!). Chef Ben King goes above and beyond at every event, and this time was no different. Instead of catering to individual dietary requirements for our feasting menu, he created the entire menu around the dietary requirements of everyone and the food was AMAZING! House made dips, dairy free bruschetta, Portuguese style chicken, salads, a delicious white fish with green salsa verde. My mouth is drooping remembering it! I highly recommend checking out what events are currently on at Osbourne Hotel and visiting it ASAP!
I hadn’t even heard of YOT Club, but some of the girls had and were SO excited that we had the opportunity to go. It’s an actual super yacht that travels up and down the river, fully licensed with a dance floor, DJ and even a saxophonist! There are two levels and we were on the top level, so had an amazing view of Brisbane, the river and an incredible sunset. We had a private area on one side which was perfect for our group as some ladies wanted to sit and chat and enjoy the views, while others busted a move on the dancefloor. There’s even a full menu for when you get peckish! The cruise departs at 3.15pm and docks back at Southbank at 7.15pm. YOT Club spends time in Brisbane and the Gold Coast, and is also available for private charter!
PONY DINING BRISBANE
A short Uber ride away is Brisbane’s Eagle Street Pier, and the divine Pony Dining. We had pre-dinner drinks on the balcony overlooking the river then headed inside to enjoy a set menu of share plates overlooking the open kitchen. The ambience is cosy and intimate, thing low lighting and warm tones. With a focus on high quality Australian produce, the food was beyond incredible with an amazing combination of flavours and textures. I was a bad blogger and didn’t take any photos at Pony (oops) but below I’ve popped a few from their website gallery so you can see just how special the space is.
MR PERCIVAL’S AT HOWARD SMITH WHARVES
Mr Percival’s is located at Howard Smith Wharves, a riverside entertainment precinct under the Story Bridge, the views are incredible and the atmosphere amazing. As a very popular spot, it’s encouraged to make a booking if you’d like to enjoy the views from the deck (can be made online) but you can also just pop on in! The cocktail list is impressive and tasty, and the menu whilst not sampled looks amazing. Just means I need to visit again right!
MISS BLISS WHOLEFOODS KITCHEN
Miss Bliss Whole Foods Kitchen is a beautiful West End café that I have frequented often, and even held a cocktail party at. The staff are always bubbly and friendly, the food is so delicious (and the serves are huge) and it is VERY instagrammable! Miss Bliss also does catering and events, if you need a beautiful space for any type of event you should really check it out. And if not, you should just really go for brunch ha ha!
Jacqui is the girl boss, mastermind, beautiful soul behind Miss Bliss Wholefoods Kitchen, Miss Bliss Treats AND Real Women Co. All her businesses are amazing and have a strong focus on empowering and nourishing (inside and out).
Phew! What a weekend! I won’t lie, it was as full on as it looks and I am pretty tired! BUT my heart is full, not only from the amazing company of women I had the pleasure of spending time with, but also from falling in love with my hometown all over again! It’s so easy to stick to the places you know (and love) but I have a renewed passion for exploring Brisbane again and finding more amazing venues to experience and tell you about!
Which venue most stands out to you, or have you been to any?
Love, Rachael xx
Also a huge shout out to this babe Bianca from Andie & Ollie Photography. Not only is she an amazing friend, but she took most of the photos you’ll see from us over the weekend. Not because she was paid to, but because she truly has a passion for photography and capturing moments in time.
