Last year I wrote a blog on my tips to buying the perfect Denim Jacket (read it here), and after a few requests I am fleshing it out with current styles and washes so you can add the perfect Denim Jacket (or three) to your wardrobe this season.
If you read my How To Guide on Denim Jackets you will know I believe the perfect style of jacket for most body shapes and heights is a cropped style with stretch, so the majority of styles below will be that cut.
The most casual wash, this is a fantastic day time jacket that looks fabulous over summer dresses paired with boots, or lighter coloured outfits.
This is an excellent all rounder and if you only have room in your wardrobe for one denim jacket, this is the wash for you. While not as dressy as a darker wash, it is much dressier and more versatile than a light or coloured wash.
The dressier denim jacket, the dark wash, can take you out at night and add glam to an outfit. But can also work well with a more casual outfit, just be careful of colours and prints.
Black denim is an alternative to dark denim, and tends to be dressier. I personally find black denim more restrictive than a blue, so wouldn’t recommend it if you’re only after one denim jacket BUT in saying that a black denim is a fantastic staple so if you’re looking to add something different or another jacket to your collection black is a great way to go.
Whilst a coloured denim jacket isn’t the most versatile in your wardrobe, it definitely adds some pizazz to any outfit! You can safely live in blue or black denim jeans and your favourite plain or patterned tops all winter and add a pop of colour and fabulousness to your outfit with a coloured jacket.
I actually love a white denim jacket in Spring & Summer, but it also can be Winterised for the cooler months. A white denim jacket goes wonderfully over a printed sweater (think darker coloured leopard prints, stripes etc), it breaks up dark outfits.
I hope that has helped you fill the denim jacket sized hole/s is your wardrobe for this season!
