Good morning Lovelies!
It’s been a little while between Babe Behind The Brand blogs, and today’s is a little different my usual Babe… today I’m introducing you to my beautiful friend Bianca who is the talented lady behind the lens of my shoots and photographer extraordinaire at Andie & Ollie Photography!
I first met Bianca at the launch party of Hello Sunday last year, and not long after was lucky enough to win a Christmas Mini Shoot with her. From there our friendship and working relationship blossomed, and we have an amazing time on our shoots! So it was a no brainer to let you girls get to know her better as well.
CSVP: What was the inspiration for starting Andie & Ollie Photography?
AOP: Okay.. let’s rewind a sec. So when my first baby, Andie, was just a few months old, I found there was a massive eagre within myself to start something for myself. Something that gave me purpose and something I loved apart from being a mother 24/7. So I started a small business that was originally called Andie & Ollie. I handmade wooden toys, kids décor and home styling pieces. I ran that business for 2 years until we had our second baby, Flynn, when I quickly realised that operating power tools and being covered in saw dust was not the most ideal career path when I have two small children running circles around me. My focus shifted and I realised that throughout my small business journey, I had developed a love and interest in photography. I was constantly taking photos of the products I had made for social media & found myself taking my camera to places more and more and capturing cute photos of my kids when we were out. So the penny finally dropped and I decided to jump into the photography world! Thus, Andie & Ollie Photography was born and I literally have not looked back! I am so obsessed with capturing special moments for my clients & it is 100% the most rewarding job I have ever had!
CSVP: Who IS Bianca?
AOP: Well…. She is a mother of 2. She will be turning 30 this year! She is a wife to a man she has been with for 11 years this year (where the hell did that time go!!) and married for 5 years! I was born in Queensland and moved to NSW with my family when I was in primary school. I grew up on the Central Coast of NSW but always had envisaged moving back to QLD and one year ago, we did just that!! 😊 I cruised through my school years, definitely more focused on the social aspects of it all rather than the study haha. I did however find my passion for woodworking when I was at school where I completed Industrial Technology all the way through to year 12. I’ve definitely always been more of a creator rather than an academic. I love food. I love wine. I love being a true and loyal friend and I think having quality over quantity when it comes to your friends circle is what is important!
CSVP: What sets Andie & Ollie Photography apart from others?
AOP: Well, firstly, there is no two photographers exactly the same! I definitely believe that my personality, passion and drive comes through in my photography and I like to capture real moments and portray them in the same way that I see the moments. I sometimes get clients saying that they feel awkward in front of the camera and they don’t know what to do.. I often tell them to just imagine that I am not there. To just interact in the moment like you would if no one was watching… and that is when the magic happens! Secondly, I am 100% self-taught. So I have developed my own set of skills and style completely and utterly from my own experiences and learnings. Of course I take inspiration from other amazing photographers around… but I find it soooo damn satisfying to be going through this journey learning from my mistakes and constantly challenging myself with learning new techniques!
CSVP: What does your typical day look like?
AOP: I like to get to the gym 3 times a week. So Monday, Wednesday and Fridays you will typically find me at the gym first thing in the morning. Getting out and moving my body really helps me with motivation for the rest of the day! Plus… let’s be real… I like food so I need to keep up my exercise so I can smash those dumplings at Eat Street on the weekend haha! Andie goes to daycare twice a week so on those days I like to get my errands done while it is just Flynn (my youngest) and I. Usual household duties gets thrown in there. I do most of the cooking in our house so preparing and cooking dinner for when hubby gets home and then I usually will edit at night once the kids have gone to bed (with a wine in hand.. coz YOLO) lol.
CSVP: If you could only wear ONE beauty item every day, what would it be?
AOP: Mascara. My eyelashes are basically non existent so mascara really helps me to not look like a hairless person hahaha!
CSVP: What is your coffee/café order?
AOP: Vanilla latte!!!! YUM!
CSVP: What is your must have piece of advise when booking a photo shoot?
AOP: Book someone who aligns with your style. Photography is an art form and we all have our own individual styles. For example, bright coloured clothing in my images is totally not my jam. I love earthy, natural vibes so if you were wanting a bright and colourful session, be sure to search for a photographer who specialises in that style so that you will be 100% happy with the end results 😊
CSVP: What do you do for self-care/relax?
AOP: I am really terrible at self-care!!! But definitely enjoying a wine once the kids have gone to bed is probably my idea of self-care at the moment. Doesn’t sound like much.. but just getting that time and space where no one is touching me or demanding snack is really reenergising for me. I do also love getting my hair or nails done but those moments are few and far between for me. Something I definitely have to work on.
CSVP: What is the best thing that has come out of running Andie & Ollie Photography?
AOP: Hands down – not having to spend hours upon hours in the workshop covered in saw dust while trying to look after two small bubs. Photography works so well for me and my family and allows me so much more time with my babies which is obviously my main goal while they are young and before they head off to school!
CSVP: Favourite colour?
AOP: Oh god. I really don’t think I have one. I get very bored easily so… can I say the rainbow? Haha!
CSVP: Cocktails, champagne or wine?
Ummmmm…. All of the above???!!!! 🤣
