Here is this week’s Wish List… as it is Valentine’s Day I have brought you something extra special, a collaboration for today’s Wish List AND some bargain hunting tips from my #WCW (Women Crush Wednesday) Bec from The Bargain Styler (formally Big W Style).
How cute is the above outfit? From earrings to heels the entire look will only cost you $125.00! Bec is the QUEEN of bargains and popped the above look together, and is opening up about The Bargain Styler just for you… plus has her top 5 Bargain Hunting Tips to share with you!
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF?
I’m Bec, 34, and a stay at home Mum of two girls. I have Gem who is three and Rose who is one, they keep me very busy. I used to do many different jobs but the most recent was a Primary School teacher. I love to travel ( I was a flight attendant for five years) and am a big foodie. I currently live for coffee, wine, and precious kid free time.
HOW DID THE TBS INSTAGRAM PAGE COME ABOUT?
We began the huge process of renovating our old Victorian cottage early in 2017 and that involved us moving out of our house and renting for a year. The rental property we ended up moving into was right near a Big W, and I found myself there most days. Initially the page was called Big W Style and was all things Big W, but whenever I posted an outfit people loved it! So I slowly began incorporating more and more outfit posts. Eventually I branched out and started doing other stores as well (all bargain finds of course), so I changed the name from Big W Style to The Bargain Styler. TBS is mainly outfit posts from large chain stores (Big W, Target, Kmart, and Best and Less), but also includes any bargain finds that I find along the way (homewares or beauty). It’s been going now for around six months and I’m still loving putting the time into doing it.
WHAT IS YOUR GOAL FOR THE PAGE?
I love helping others by suggesting affordable fashion, beauty, and homewares that is obtainable to anyone. The feedback is definitely that it inspires people to checkout the clothing available in stores they may not necessarily shop at for clothes. I love featuring high quality affordable items that would surprise your friends and family if you told them were you bought it from. I think women, and mother’s especially, loose their mojo as they get older so I like to think my Instagram page is a daily reminder to put yourself first, treat yourself and the importance of looking and feeling good (no matter what age or size you are).
HOT FASHION TRENDS FOR AUTUMN/WINTER?
I’m loving all the teal, navy and burgundy that is starting to come through. Definitely loving ripped denim, and I think a good pair of loafers will be essential this winter.
THE BEST THING THAT HAS COME FROM YOUR INSTAGRAM PAGE?
Definitely the friendships I have made. There is a great community of supportive women out there who want to see you succeed. I also love the messages I get from women I haven’t met telling me how something I did made their day or a that a clothing item they purchased that I had suggested made them feel really good. I have had some messages that have brought me to tears they have been that sweet.
TOP 5 BARGAIN HUNTING TIPS
- Window shop at higher end stores to get an idea of trends and colours that are hot for the season,
- Look out for clothes which pattern and/or colour catches your eye… not necessarily the style,
- Know your body shape and which styles suit you best, flaunting your best feature doesn’t have to cost the earth!
- Don’t be caught up on the size tag, cheaper shops can have varied sizing and going up a size or two can be more flattering, and
- Follow my page for bargain fashion finds!
