Here is this week’s Wish List… we’re less than a month out from Bebe’s 5th birthday, which is the milestone he’s been marking as the baby coming AFTER. This means we’ve put off doing too much baby or nursery prep, which is HARD! So as his birthday draws nearer and I am able to start planning the nursery, I’ve been thinking of the style and colours I’ll be using this time. As we don’t know the gender and I am a lover of this shade anyway, grey is the theme and simplicity is the style since the nursery isn’t a big room.
We used a set of drawers with the change pad on top rather than a change table with Bebe and loved it. It saves a lot of space and has a lot more storage (a must with an additional human to store things for!) and I prefer changing nappies on the side, especially for a boy (Bebe was a Winter baby boy and nappy changes are a risk if you know what I mean!) So we’ll be getting the Ikea Hemnes chest of drawers as it matches the drawers in our room.
I didn’t have a feeding chair in Bebe’s room and I think it would have been fantastic to have, especially for those late night dream feeds. This glider from Babies R Us swivels and glides, making it easy to pop out of while holding a baby in your arms. The Moroccan style ottoman is a find off of eBay and will be great for either popping my feet up on, or for Bebe to sit on so he doesn’t feel excluded from the feeds.
Once again, I didn’t have a mobile for Bebe (it sounds like he didn’t have much doesn’t it! But I assure you he did) because I couldn’t find one that I liked. I have definitely increased my online purchasing skills in the last five years though and this gorgeous Felt Ball Mobile is the perfect match for a neutral, simple nursery.
The one thing I have really struggled with is finding a plain grey jersey change mat cover! Who would have though it would be such a hard thing to find! I read online that you can use bassinet fitted sheets as change mat covers… I’m not sure if you can but this gorgeous Living Textiles set from Baby Bunting is perfect and comes with matching cot sheets as well… be still my matchy matchy loving heart!
Rather than wall decals or artwork (I did wall decals with Bebe… never again!) we will be getting the Bub’s Birth Poster straight away for the nursery. I didn’t find out about The Birth Poster until last year, and of course Bebe has his already, and I think it’s just a gorgeous piece of artwork to cherish forever, a reminder of just how little they start life as!
Once I can start the nursery I’ll have a better idea of what is needed and what looks right in the space but for now these are definitely on my Wish List. What were some pieces that you loved having in your nursery?
