I have done a round up of the six things I am so glad I had through my first trimester (and will continue to use through the rest of my pregnancy and beyond!), these are things I would recommend for any newly pregnant or planning to fall pregnant Mama!
Comfort is key, especially in those first few months when you’re not only expanding (at an exponential rate if you’re like me!) but also quite unwell. Tight anything is a no-no and can make the nausea so much worse! I lived in my MAMA Nursing Tops from H&M, the inbuilt shelf bra meant a bit of support without the discomfort of an actual bra. I still sleep in these and they will be fantastic for in hospital and while breastfeeding once Bub arrives. These Cotton On Body Maternity Long Johns are INCREDIBLY comfortable and so soft, perfect for when you can’t bear to have anything pressing on your tummy! The ribbed waistband can be folded over or worn up over the bump for the entire pregnancy.
For when you DO need to wear a bra, underwire is a thing of the past!, so I’ve been wearing this super comfy Intimo Everyday Maternity Contour Bra from Carys Martin (Brisbane ladies get in touch for a personal fitting). Being an E cup, I can tell you that I CANNOT wait to be able to wear underwire again! But in the meantime, this bra gives shape and support while being safe for pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Dehydration is common in the first trimester when it’s hard to keep anything down and all sorts of things make you nauseous! I love AquaMama because it has been specifically formulated for pregnant and breastfeeding women, containing folic acid, vitamins and electrolytes while being low sugar and calorie. I like the Mixed Berry and found this the easiest to drink while unwell, but now I’m over the incredible reflux and vomiting of the first trimester I am enjoying the Lemon as well (also available in Orange).
Lastly, even though it’s probably the last thing you feel like doing, keeping track of your pregnancy is such a wonderful idea. I have no photos and hardly any notes in my journal until 20 weeks with Bebe as I was so unwell with Hypermesis Gravidarum which is really sad! This time I have been keeping a journal using the Bae The Label Pregnancy Journal and taking photos using the gorgeous milestone cards from My Little Milestones (I already have the Baby Milestone cards ready for when Bub arrives too!).
What did you love/need/have to have during your first few months of pregnancy?
H&M MAMA 2-pack nursing tops $29.99
BAE THE LABEL Pregnancy Journal $29.00 (I purchased mine from Bae directly but they have since sold out online so check their stockists)
